Reports reaching the People's Information Ministry confirm that the Swisslandian regime has fallen. Its leadership has been removed from power, its government has ceased to function, and Swissland no longer exists as a nation.
The collapse brings an end to the war between Swissland and the Eisenreich. The Ministry of Outside Relations noted that the regime's campaign of falsehoods against the Federation has ended with it, and that none of its accusations against the Federation were ever supported by evidence.
Member governments will consult before recognising any new authority in the former Swisslandian region. Until then, ZapadTelecom© service to the region remains suspended. The Federation extends its sympathy to the ordinary people of the region, who were failed by their former leaders.

The Ministry declared the work finished at a ceremony in the ZapadTelecom© data centre, attended by ZapadTelecom© engineers and at least one kettle. Citizens of the Astralyian Republic, the Zapadiyan People's Republic and the Kingdom of Rendale can now read The Zapadiyan Daily, learn about the Federation's member nations and its Outside Relations, and follow the Federation's joint projects on a finished InterPhyr.net, all from home.
Version 1.0 also brings the new World Map, produced by the Federation Cartographic Survey, and a fully working ZapadTelecom© Interweb Surfer©, complete with Search, ZapadMail© and the ZapadTV© channel guide.
The Ministry thanked citizens for their patience during construction, and reminded them that Klipi, the site's assistant, remains available to help at all times, whether or not help is required.
Federation Rejects Swisslandian Lies Over Eisenreich War

The governments of the Phyrrian Astral Federation have firmly rejected claims by the dictator of Swissland that the Federation passed Swisslandian military plans to the Eisenreich.

The accusations, made as fighting between Swissland and the Eisenreich continues, have been described by the Ministry of Outside Relations as "entirely fabricated" and "a desperate attempt by the regime to blame others for its own failures on the battlefield."
The Federation has not taken sides in the conflict and maintains no military arrangements with either nation. Member governments have reaffirmed that the Federation's only interest is the peace and stability of the region, and that it will not be drawn into a war by the inventions of a dictator.
Meanwhile, the Eisenreich has entered a state of emergency following the resignation of Kaiser Padra. Citizens are reminded that ZapadTelecom© service to Swissland remains suspended, and that any statement originating from the Swisslandian regime should be regarded as unreliable.

First Secretary AldAz described the project as "a house worthy of the people who built it," and assured citizens that the new building will be larger, sturdier, and more modern than the old one in every respect the Ministry has so far been able to measure.
Construction brigades from across the republic have volunteered for the work, a decision several of them learned about from this newspaper. Materials will be supplied under the current plan, with any shortfall to be made up through revolutionary enthusiasm.
Until the works are complete, the business of government will continue as normal from temporary offices. Citizens are asked not to disturb the builders, and to report any delays directly to the Ministry, which will then report that there are none. Progress on the reconstruction is recorded on the Projects page.

According to figures released by ZapadTelecom©, the site was reachable on more than three hundred days of the year, a result the Ministry describes as "a triumph of socialist engineering" and independent observers describe as "about what you would expect."
Citizens of all three member nations logged on in record numbers, with the Member Nations table remaining the most visited page for the second year running. The Doctrines section came a close second, largely thanks to visitors who clicked on it by accident while looking for the Contact section.
Asked about the brief outage in August, a ZapadTelecom© spokesperson explained that a technician had unplugged the main server to boil a kettle. The technician has since been reassigned to a role with fewer plugs. Service is expected to continue uninterrupted in the coming year, subject to the availability of electricity, telephone lines, and kettles.

Speaking at the May Day parade in the capital, First Secretary AldAz praised the workers of the republic for exceeding the production targets of the current plan, noting that several of the targets had been revised downward in advance to make exceeding them more achievable.
Highlights of the year include the opening of a new tractor factory, the completion of a second tractor factory to supply parts to the first, and a record grain harvest that the Central Committee has promised to count properly once the tractors are finished.
The First Secretary closed the parade by thanking the republic's partners in the Phyrrian Astral Federation, and reminded citizens that further progress will require patience, discipline, and a continued willingness to read The Zapadiyan Daily.

The upgrade programme will replace a number of ageing telephone exchanges across the federation, some of which date back to a period the company refers to only as "before." Engineers will also install new modems at the central data centre, bringing the total number of modems at the central data centre to four.
Subscribers are advised that the "line busy" error may appear more often while the work is carried out. ZapadTelecom© reminds customers that this is normal, that the line is not in fact busy, and that the problem can usually be resolved by clicking Retry and thinking about something else.
The company has also confirmed that the ZapadTelecom Interweb Surfer© will be updated to a new version later this year, which it says will be identical to the current version in every respect except the version number.

People's Information Ministry — Edited & Approved — 14.12.1996

The charter was signed at a ceremony attended by First Secretary AldAz, President Zwariowany of the Astralyian Republic, and Monarch Thalleous of the Kingdom of Rendale, accompanied by representatives of the Royal Council. It builds on the historic pact concluded between the Zapadiyan People's Republic and the Astralyian Republic in September, which First Secretary AldAz described as "the first stone of a wider house."
Under the charter, the member nations commit to encouraging cooperation between one another, coordinating common projects, maintaining diplomatic relations, and promoting mutual development. Each member retains its own system of government, a provision the Central Committee has called "a generous concession to the diversity of the region."
To serve the new federation, the member states have established InterPhyr, the official information service of the Phyrrian Astral Federation, to be hosted by ZapadTelecom©. First Secretary AldAz closed the ceremony by reminding the assembled delegates that while the Federation belongs to all of its members, its telephone lines belong to the Zapadiyan people.

This monumental diplomatic achievement, secured through the unyielding resolve of First Secretary AldAz, Chairperson of the Central Committee, establishes the sovereign borders of the ZPR and marks a decisive victory for the working class over external imperialist pressure.
The agreement was finalized following intense negotiations between First Secretary AldAz and President Zwariowany, the leader of the Astralyian Republic. For months, reactionary elements abroad predicted the containment of our young republic, yet the iron solidarity of the Zapadiyan proletariat has forced the Astralyian leadership to recognize the permanence of our socialist state.
By decree of First Secretary AldAz, all heavy industry, transport networks, and private banking institutions are declared the property of the state. To restore economic life and combat the sabotage of class enemies, the Council of People's Commissars has initiated an immediate program of socialist construction. Labor detachments are already moving into the coal districts to restore production, while regional committees have begun the redistribution of confiscated estates to the landless peasantry.
First Secretary AldAz emphasized that strict revolutionary discipline must be maintained in all sectors to ensure the supply of bread to the industrial centers and to frustrate the efforts of speculators and black-marketeers.
